'Sound the Trumpet' - Stroud Green Festival with Spiritato!

Spiritato! gave a concert of a programme entitled ‘Sound the Trumpet’ on Friday 26th of June. The performance was part of the Stroud Green Festival in London which took place in Holy Trinity Church in Stroud Green.

The programme itself included works by Purcell, Corbett, Fantini, Rebel, Matteis, Albrici and Franceschini. We had performed a similar programme to this earlier in the year at the Forge in Camden but for this festival performance we had substituted a work by Bonocini for a work by Albrici with the same instrumentation (2 trumpets, 2 violins, viola, bassoon and basso continuo). This piece is, in my opinion, a much more interesting and rhetorical work than the Bonocini. It also gives the bassoon chance to be shown off as an independent instrument, as opposed to a bass instrument within the basso continuo.

The concert was a real pleasure to play in and there was a fantastic reception with members of the audience and the festival orgnaisers after the performance. Congratulations and thanks to all of the organisers, both within Spiritato! and from the Stroud Green Festival.
