Bach - Unser Mund sei voll Lachens - BWV 110 - Monteverdi Choir & English Baroque Soloists - Alte Oper, Frankfurt

La Scala, Milan | Alte Oper, Frankfurt | Elbphilharmonie, Hamburg | St. Martin-in-the-Fields, London

I rejoined the English Baroque Soloists under the direction of Christophe Rousset to perform Johann Sebastian Bach’s Unser Mund sei voll Lachens [BWV 110] alongside the Monteverdi Choir at the Alte Oper in Frankfurt on Sunday 8 December 2024. This was the second performance of the project, following a sold-out performance at La Scala in Milan on Monday 2 December 2024. Two further performances will take place: at the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg and at St. Martin-in-the-Fields in London.

The trip to Frankfurt was short but sweet; though there was enough time to explore the bustling Christmas market near the Alte Oper. I last performed at Frankfurt’s Alte Oper in the very cold December of 2010. I’m pleased to say that it won’t be another fourteen years until I return to this wonderful acoustic; I am scheduled to perform here with the Aurora Orchestra in just a few months.

After this project, I returned to London (via Heathrow) and went straight to Oxford to perform Handel’s Messiah at Christ Church Cathedral.
