Schubert - Mass in G [D. 167] - Trinity College Cambridge - Stephen Layton

I performed in an Orchestral Mass at Trinity College Cambridge at 6:15pm on Sunday 11th of March 2018 (The Fourth Sunday of Lent). The mass setting by Franz Schubert (1797 - 1828) was performed by The Choir of Trinity College Cambridge and a small orchestral ensemble (comprising a string quintet, chamber organ, two natural trumpets and timpani). The performance was conducted by the brilliant Stephen Layton, Director of Music.

The service included the hymns: Gerontius, Divine Mysteries and Blaenwern, as well as the Kyrie, Sanctus and Angus Dei from Schubert’s Mass in G. The Address, entitled ‘Faith in the House of Lords’, was given by The Rt Revd & Rt Hon the Lord Chartres, KCVO (Life Peer & Honorary Fellow of Trinity College).

I have performed at Trinity College on several occasions and it is always a pleasure to be surrounded by such beautiful architecture.
