Bach - B Minor Mass - Victoria Theatre - Halifax

I was extremely lucky, on Sunday 30th October 2022, to be able to fill in for an indisposed trumpet player in a B minor mass at the Victoria Theatre in Halifax. At 5pm I finished another all-Bach performance in Leeds, and by 5:40pm I was in Halifax, ready for a 6:30pm B minor mass. As a period instrument specialist, this basically never happens—what luck!

The performance featured the Halifax Choral Society, 18th Century Sinfonia and the conductor, Philip Collin.

It had been a fantastic all-Bach day with four cantatas in Leeds, and a B minor mass in Halifax—and a wonderful selection of people! It was great to see and hear the wife and husband duo of Zoë and Alastair Brookshaw singing Domine Deus (soprano and tenor aria), and Kate Symonds-Joy and Frederick Long gave excellent renditions of the alto and bass arias too.

It has been an action-packed weekend, and I had the pleasure of playing with 7 different trumpet players and three different timpanists over three very enjoyable concerts!
