Bach - B Minor Mass - Oxford Town Hall

I performed Bach’s B Minor Mass at Oxford Town Hall on Saturday 23rd April 2022. The performance featured the Schola Cantorum of Oxford, directed by Steven Grahl, the orchestra Instruments of Time & Truth, and soloists: Robyn Allegra Parton, Lucy Cox, Martha McLorinan, Nick Pritchard and Roderick Williams.

This delayed performance marked the 60th anniversary of the Schola Cantorum of Oxford. The anniversary actually fell during the pandemic and the choir is now in its 62nd year. The sound of this large but well-balanced choir filled Oxford Town Hall, which first opened its doors to the public in 1897. The interior decor and plasterwork, reminiscent of Josiah Wedgwood’s pottery, is incredibly detailed.

I played first trumpet with Will Russell on second and Peter Mankarious on third. Richard Lewis played the horn solo in the Quoniam.
