Haydn - Nelson Mass - Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment - Snape Maltings

I played first trumpet with the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment for a performance of Joseph Haydn’s Nelson Mass (Hob. XXII:11) with the University of Essex Choir on Saturday 9 May 2026. The ensemble was directed by Ben Vonberg-Clark and the orchestra was led by the violinist Kati Debretzeni. The soloists were Charlotte Bowden (soprano), Rebecca Leggett (alto), James Way (tenor) and Bozidar Smiljanic (bass).

The performance at Snape Maltings also featured Mozart’s Regina Coeli in B-flat (K.127) and Handel’s Dixit Dominus (HWV 232) with Haydn’s Nelson Mass (Hob. XXII:11) completing the second half of the programme.

After this short trip to Suffolk, I will be travelling from England to Germany and transferring my attention from Haydn to Handel tomorrow to begin my involvement in the Göttingen Handel Festival, in which we will be celebrating 20 years of the festival orchestra known as FOG (Festspiel Orchester Göttingen).
